Sound Exchange opened its doors in North Tampa in November 1987, in Brandon in February 1992, and in Pinellas Park in August 2001. Most everyone in the Tampa Bay region is within a 20 minute drive time. By combining excellent service and competitive prices, with a broad selection of music, movies, video games, selected stereo equipment, and entertainment related books and magazines, we have gained a very loyal customer base in the Tampa Bay area and around the world.
At Sound Exchange, we deal in new and used CDs, DVDs, Video Games, vinyl records (albums, 45s and 12″), entertainment related books, and selected stereo equipment. Our selection of music spans fromAfrican to Zydeco. Because we buy, sell and trade used product, many unusual and out-of-print items come into our stores on a daily basis. Vinyl collectors have a good time digging through our record bins looking for treasures as well.
Sound Exchange has been in business for nearly a quarter of a century. During that time we have seen many competitors come and go. Since 1987 the local record store scene has seen many music stores with names like Peaches, Turtles, Specs, Q Records, Record Bar, Hastings, Sam Goody, and Sound Warehouse. Over the years there have been many locally owned stores, such as Alternative Record Store, Music Revolution, Mojo Books & Music, CD Warehouse, Tampa CD, Clearwater CD, School Kids, Music Spot, Divinyl Madness, CD City, Sun Bum’s, Ace’s Records, Blue Chair Records, Park Ave CD, Vinyl Fever, Music Exchange, Banana’s Records, Record and Tape Outlet, and Peter Dunn’s Vinyl Museum. With three stores in the Tampa Bay area Sound Exchange continues to dominate the local record store scene.
