History

Sound Exchange opened its doors in North Tampa in November 1987, in Brandon in February 1992, and in Pinellas Park in August 2001. In the fall of 2017, we merged our Brandon and Pinellas Park stores into a new, much larger location in Pinellas Park. Now customers in Pinellas County have the same broad selection that our Hillsborough County customers have enjoyed for decades.

By combining excellent service and competitive prices with a great selection of CDs, vinyl records, tapes, DVDs, Blu-Rays, video games, vintage stereo equipment, books, and collectible figures, we have gained a very loyal customer base in the Tampa Bay area and around the world.

Because we buy, sell and trade used product, many unusual and out-of-print items come into our stores on a daily basis. Collectors have a great time digging through our bins looking for treasures. Many customers also like to browse our web site and place reservations for items, resulting in a consolidated, easy pick-up at the Sound Exchange location most convenient for them.

Other customers come to us as repeat sellers, knowing that we buy a wide variety of genres and always pay them fair prices for their used items. Have a box of sci fi movies, reggae CDs, music biographies, old Nintendo games, and a turntable? Sound Exchange is your one-stop place to sell it all.

Sound Exchange has been in business for over 30 years, and during that time we have seen many competitors come and go. With two large locations, Sound Exchange continues to be the best source for music and movie lovers in the Tampa Bay area.
